After completing my studies, I stepped into fiction copyediting in March 2023. As an editor, my job is to ensure you are communicating your story correctly, coherently, consistently, and clearly all while prioritizing the preservation of your voice and style.
A Copyediting Gig Focuses On:
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Capitalization
- Spelling
- Treatment of numbers
- Treatment of quotations
- Word choice
- Any custom request from the client
All editors abide by a house style, which is the style expectations instilled by a publishing house. Since I don’t work for a publisher, I abide by the Chicago Manual of Style for American English and the Oxford Style Manual for British English.
The great news about editing fiction is that we get to break the rules, so if you want to italicize the dialogue of ghosts and romanize the dialogue of the living, go for it! If you want to hyphenate Tommy-boy so your audience reads it as one word, you got it! If you want to use alright instead of all right, no problem! My job isn’t to change your novel to conform it; my job is to protect your novel’s uniqueness at all costs.

Pricing
At the moment, I charge .006 per word. That means, if you have a 100,000-word manuscript, you would pay $600.
I would love to copyedit your book! Reach out to book your spot today!
